Brake Pad Maintenance and Replacement
Inspect and replace the brake pads immediately if any of the following conditions occur:
。Inspection Interval: Inspect the brake pads every 20,000 to 40,000 kilometers (depending heavily on individual driving and braking habits).
。Visual Check: The friction material thickness falls below 0.5 mm, or drops to roughly 15% of its original thickness.
。Abnormal Noise: A sharp, piercing metallic screeching sound occurs during braking (indicating that the pad's backing plate may be grinding directly against the rotor).
。Performance Drops: Braking distances increase, the pedal feels soft or spongy, or pedal travel becomes noticeably deeper.
Important: Bedding-in Period
After installing new brake pads, please allow for a proper bedding-in (break-in) period. Avoid sudden, hard braking since the new pads and rotors are not yet fully mated. We recommend performing several gradual slowdowns from low-to-medium speeds to complete the bedding-in process.
