Multi-Piston Caliper Maintenance and Consumables Replacement
Operating in high-temperature environments over long periods can cause the internal oil seals and external dust boots of the pistons to harden or degrade.
。Overhaul and Cleaning: Remove the caliper body from the vehicle, detach the brake pads and bolts, and disassemble the caliper. Use WD-40 lubricant to thoroughly clean sludge, brake dust, and debris from the pistons and the caliper body.
。Component Inspection and Replacement: Inspect the piston surfaces for scratches, seizing, or corrosion. Replace any severely damaged components immediately to guarantee proper airtightness. Replace the worn parts with the designated rubber oil seal and dust boot kit according to your specific caliper model.
。Brake Fluid Inspection: Normal brake fluid should be pale yellow or transparent. If it turns dark brown, appears turbid (cloudy), or falls below the minimum (MIN) level, it must be replaced immediately.
。Reassembly and Air Bleeding: After installing new caliper components and replacing the brake fluid, you must perform a thorough air bleeding process to purge any trapped air from the brake lines.
Proper maintenance and timely consumable replacement ensure smoother piston operation. We recommend a comprehensive inspection every 3 years or 50,000 kilometers.
